Yeah, I assumed they'd be working together on a statement. Have always appreciated the way they stuck together.
Why? This is personal not business. They should be free to say what they want. I hope they each provide a tidbit about him that we didn’t know, like how many people he has helped, etc.
NP. You want a “tidbit” about a man who lived in the public eye since the age of 24 or so, who recently published a heartbreakingly complete, honest, and vulnerable memoir? You want a little “tidbit,” eh, you ghoul?
However THEY decide to handle it will be the right thing to do. Keep sniffing around for tidbits.
NP but what a bizarre and rage-filled take. I interpreted “tidbit” to mean a fond personal memory they had of him that is not widely known, not a piece of gossip.
What more can they say? What more can they give you? They’ve done interviews, reunion specials, behind-the-scenes footage, DVD commentary, on and on. And for someone to say oh well if they do it as a group that’s disappointing and they’d better do it like this…I mean, shut up. This is their friend, their longtime friend and colleague. However they choose to deal with it is right, and any criticism of how they choose to approach this is wrong.
Being this is a personal loss to each and everyone of them, each with their own emotions, etc. I find it strange that each of them wouldn’t publish their own condolences. The fact that they are making it as a group also makes it seem like they are more concerned about protecting the “image” of Friends than personal emotions. Sad.
Weird take. Just because they aren't each publishing a separate public statement doesn't mean they don't each have their own emotions. Why are you interested in what any of them has to say about Perry? Because they starred with him on that show. That's it. You aren't sitting around clamoring to find out what his parents, siblings, assistant, and non-famous friends are feeling right now, right? His family released a collective statement, not individual statements. The creators of Friends released a joint statement. SNL put up a memorial photo at the end of last night's episode without any comment from anyone on the show. And so on.
You are not entitled to the individual grief of anyone who knew him in this moment, and the idea that it's somehow disappointing that the cast of Friends would choose to release a joint statement says way more about you than it does about them. They know people want to hear from them, but that doesn't mean they are required to let everyone into the full experience of their grief on an individual level.
I find it strange that they are putting out a group statement. They haven’t been an “group” for almost 20 years and in all that time they all been together twice, not counting the reunion. And it seems the group statement should be pretty simple, something like…”he was our brother, we love him, we will miss him”.
Anonymous wrote:I don't think I will be able to take the group statement from the rest of the cast. It's going to be so sad.
I didn't follow him on IG but I did go back and look at his last few IG posts and they were strange. A lot of batman, which people are saying was a call for help, and the video showing the three cranberries as all he had eaten that day--people are trying to connect that to the intentional bathtub drowning of the Cranberries lead singer, that this was his clue to everyone he was planning this. I don't know--I like to think that this was just his body giving out after a pickleball workout. I hope he did not intentionally do this.

I disagree.
Yeah, pp is weirdly judgmental. They were known for their bond as a group, and have now lost their first member far too soon. It makes perfect sense they’d want to work on a statement together.

Exactly this. This isn’t some news story tabloid drama for them. He is someone who meant a lot to them who they watched struggle for so long.
Do you think this? After watching the reunion, I felt like they were coworkers, they cared about him as a person, but he was probably a mess as a colleague,
and they didn’t keep in touch after. I’m sure they have strong feelings of sadness and even guilt, but I don’t know if they were like family, as someone above said.
I felt like he very much wanted to retain close ties with the case but they didn’t.
The girls always stayed in touch with each other. At the reunion they said Schwim was the one who kept everyone up to date on what the others were doing.
MP did make a comment that no one called him but I was never sure if he meant it sarcastically or not. The others didn’t really react. And Court has posted a few pics of the two of them having lunch. He did a skit on Ellen with Jen and Court. I think they stayed in touch just not as frequently as the girls did.
Schwimm? Jen? Court? Are they personal friends of yours?
This is how they (and PP, apparently) refer to each other.
If you’ve watched the interviews and reunions you know this is what they call each other. And the girls also have pet names for each other that they’ve used on IG posts.
It's really not important, but the gist is that they have nicknames within their own group, not for the fans to adopt. But whatever.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I hope one of the Friends can take in his dog. For some reason, that would bring me comfort. His poor dog must be so devastated.
Then Daily Mail/Fail link upthread indicated that Lisa Kudrow may have already offered to take him. I'm sure someone in his family, or one of his assistants, could also potentially take him. It does really make me sad to think about his dog grieving. Dogs are so loyal and such creatures of habit -- death is very hard on them sometimes.
