Is that the article you meant to link? Because it’s certainly not pro-spanking. It in fact talks about how research shows spanking increases risk of mood disorders and lowers IQ in children

I am in my fifties and was never spanked. My parents made this decision because both felt their parents had used corporal punishment on them out of anger and frustration, unrelated to their behavior. They resented it their whole lives. My siblings and I did not spank our children. My siblings, and our children, are all well-behaved, educated and successful adults. We are a very close family. Certainly no one in our UMC neighborhood has ever indicated/admitted/or visibly used corporal punishment.

Nobody I know is bothered they were spanked. Hitting, slapping, shoving, punching, on the other hand, is a different ballgame. Spanking a 4 year old when they run into the street is not always a terrible thing to do.
