THIS. Duh. See you back here in a couple when he runs for statewide office.
I was in TX with a prominent former D politico. He said that many folks are switching parties b/c they have no chance as a Dem. It isn't really about R beliefs. They want to stay in politics.
Anonymous wrote:And remember how gerrymandered TX is. He cannot even win a Congressional seat as a Dem. TX split all of the cities into different districts.

Mayor Johnson was JUST re-elected. In May. With a whopping 93% of the vote.
This isn't about "staying in politics" for Johnson. It is about beliefs and how bat$hit crazy the Dems have become.
If he wanted to keep being the Mayor of Dallas forever he would stay a Democrat. If he wants to be _____ of Texas after being Mayor of Dallas he needs to be. Republican. This isn’t hard.
Given his record of success in Dallas, he should have no problem running for higher office as a Democrat or Republican. He has chosen Republican. And has given very good reasons for doing so.

"Our cities are in disarray. Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority ... Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise."
Johnson also says Democrat policies "exacerbate homelessness, coddle criminals, and make it harder for ordinary people to make a living."
Perhaps some of what he says is true but the Republican tent is certainly not the place for frustrated Democratic politicians to find righteousness.
He clearly believes it is.
Perhaps he knows something you don't.
Or, is honest about his assessment of the two parties.
