Sadly, Bill Clinton probably doesn't even recognize today's Democratic party. I believe the PP is saying since there's no Bill Clinton to vote for, s/he votes Republican - for issues other than abortion. So do I.
Ok. Pro choice is not an important enough issue to drive your vote so you will vote for anti-abortion, anti-women's reproductive rights republicans. Republicans are losing elections over this issue but they simply refuse to nominate pro choice candidates. Oh well.

Agreed. I'm an Independent and in some ways, one would think I'm conservative because of all these things; pro-police, strong border control, thinks trans women have no place in women's sports.. However, I am pro-choice and very much pro-gun control. I feel like I don't have a home in either party.
I don’t think trans women belong in women’s sports either but I’m smart enough to notice that republicans don’t otherwise care about or support women’s athletics; they’re using it as a wedge issue to begin attacking trans rights altogether and then on to attacking gay rights. LGBTQIA+ deserve human rights. See the long game.
DP. I find it utterly astounding that the issue of WOMEN'S rights seems to have utterly disappeared when discussing "trans rights." Why should biological men be able to compete against biological women? That's all it comes down to. Where are the women's rights in that scenario? Where is the equity in that scenario?
How f**king dare you elevate this issue to the level of whether or not we have democracy or whether or not the US economy gets destroyed (via the debt ceiling)??

Also it's only some countries that start to impose limitations at that point. In the Netherlands, for example, abortion is allowed up to viability. In Sweden it's up to 18 weeks for any reason and then for specific reasons up until 22 weeks, more or less the point of viability.

True, but it’s the Dems I’m more likely to support. I want to see them get back on track; but it’s highly unlikely.
In what way are actual Democratic policies - not whatever you saw on TikTok or what some non profit in California is doing, but actual Democratic policies - on the wrong track?
Immigration for one thing. Immigration is a good thing, the free-for-all we currently have is unsustainable. Neither party addresses this — Dems have given up despite reporting many. It will take take working more effectively with Mexico AND Canada, and possibly going to war against the cartels iand Central American gangs that exploit the people we supposedly care about.
War with cartels means war with Mexico's army.

The GOP made their bed and now has to lie in it. They are desperately trying to hold on, but the writing is on the wall. The voters do not want the GOP is selling.
The voters ignored the anti abortion scolds because roe was in place. They never were going to tolerate the end of Roe.

OP here. On-demand up until birth, and not having to drive far away to get one or pay a ton to get one. Hardly anyone is seeking an abortion at 30 weeks anyway, but the option needs to be left open because medical complications arise.

By “euro-style” do you mean wraparound social services, easy access to abortion clinics and exceptions to limits based on financial hardship of the expectant mother? I’m guessing you don’t.
You can’t compare limits between countries in isolation.

Yes and if they are they may wake up. I doubt it but they may. If they do wake up and have the Clinton abortion approach safe and rare then I think they win elections. But that Supreme Court case was a disaster on a scale that is unprecedented. It may be 2030 or 2040 before they can shake out of it.

Who was it that was blindsided in the last three elections? Not the Democrats.
They were blindsided by Trump as the most obvious example. Abortion will likely hold them at the presidential level for 2024 unless the economy really tanks in away that everyday people define it for themselves.
There have been three national elections since Trump won, and the Republicans have underperformed in all of them and been surprised every time.
