It’s not overly controlling if you choose to send your kids’ friends home at whatever time, but as someone whose isn’t in bed at 9:30, and who doesn’t change into pjs until I am going to bed, 9:30 would be fine in my house, and if the other parent wanted their kid home earlier they could ask for that.

Having a fit about what time other peoples’ kids are doing things is massively over controlling and judgmental.

Not those posters but yes, I do and they track me as well. If they don't want a tracker, they can pay for their own phone as its for my needs, not theirs.

No one I know does this. Not a single parent.

I know plenty of families who all share their location.

why embarrass the child - that is not how you honor any relationship
fast forward to when your kid goes off to college and you wonder why they rarely are in touch - it all is based on respect established over time and from an early age

But, so often that you know where they are at all times and freak out if you can’t immediately locate their whereabouts? That seems like a major privacy violation. If they are late getting home, fine, but creepy otherwise.

You don't get privacy as a child. Even before cell phones, I always had to tell my parents where I was and call if I was late.

I agree. What a creepy response. I had a roommate post college with parents like this who would drive 3 hours to show up at our apt at 8am on a Saturday to find out if roommate was home. They felt like they had a right to interrogate me and the other roommate. The second time they did it, I answered the door and told them I was calling the police. I always suspected her father had abused her and was insanely jealous of any guy who got near her. We were all 22-25.
