Not true - UVA cares less about an applicant coming having the four years of a single language if that applicant is clearly stem oriented and has exhausted the most rigorous curriculum in their respective field in the sciences. After all, Dean J has been clear that only two years of foreign language is required but four years is recommended. You can see this pattern in the ED and EA acceptances at UVA here this year and in Reddit and College Confidential. Four years is not a mandatory requirement

Even before the redesign, UVA has more core requirements in tough classes -- operating systems and a higher level algorithms.

My DS got into both schools for CS last year. He ultimately chose UVA, even though I wanted him to go to UMD since it’s closer to home. They’re both good schools, and there isn’t a significant difference between the two programs that I’ve seen besides a few places here and there in rankings. One of the few things I’ll note is that UVA’s CS curriculum was recently redesigned, and it seems to have more requirements than UMD’s. (For example, UVA BSCS requires two semesters of software development/engineering courses.) At the end of the day, they’re both good schools and fine choices for CS.

Exactly the football students were shot by the same student. There is an independent investigation ongoing. Nothing else has happened there. College Park is much more dangerous than Charlottesville- it gets an F for overall safety on crime data.org. I would walk UVA’s campus at night. I would never walk the College Park campus alone at night.

Exactly the football students were shot by the same student. There is an independent investigation ongoing. Nothing else has happened there. Those two things are not established. They are assertions usually based on some ranking.
but rankings are important when it shows UVA is top tier, but not important when it shows UVA isn't top tier.
Sauce for the goose IS sauce for the gander. My point was rankings are data points, but they should not be put forth as definitive evidence. People should decide based on what is important to them.

Why do UVA boosters continue to act like UVA CS is top 20. It's not. You're better of going to Purdue for Top 20 for CS.
