This is interesting. Would this type of heads up occur in the last week or so before acceptances are out? So like next week? So like if we're at a k-8 and don't hear anything no news is good news?


The last few days are when acceptances are finalized as the decisions on which of the “maybes” are made.

The “definitely nots” are known earlier in the process.

The “sending” school should know when it’s possible an applicant will be shut out. They should have communicated this earlier on and suggested alternatives (safety schools).

One point I don't think has been covered is that, if you are applying out from private and heading toward zero acceptances, you will get advance notice from your sending school.

No one in Admissions is going to tell you. For them it’s all risk and no reward.

There are significant reasons NOT to tell anyone.

For one thing the process isn’t over until it’s over. There are unexpected twists and turns.

And just imagine someone who is told their DC has been accepted and they can’t restrain themselves from sharing the good news with someone else waiting patiently.

Only way to really know is if admission’s or someone familiar with what is going on tells you that you are going to be admitted.

Don’t try to look for clues. There were schools I just knew my kids got into based on the treatment by admissions and they were waitlisted.

Lord, we just got such a lukewarm post-observation note card that I’m pretty sure my kid didn’t get in. Worse, he has a sibling preference. I guess we are headed for a private/public split next year!

Yes it happened and it had nothing to do with financial aid.

We caught it morning of decision day--not sure when it showed up as i didn't think to look sooner. Was only looking to check something for the other kid who we already had set up in TADS.



Wouldn't you have to of already accepted for them to bill you?


I'm assuming this was an enrollment agreement where you put in a deposit
