Me too--really wanted that mid-week, "I deserve a break" glass of wine last night, but distracted myself with working out and scrolling through IG instead. It is interesting how the desire sort of comes in waves. My brain seems to be adapting to not wanting or craving wine, but then boom--it will just hit out of nowhere like last night where my kids were driving me nuts, work had been crazy and I just wanted that treat! But, the difference now is that rather than reaching for it, I am training myself to think through my options and decide whether this is something I truly want or will other activities relieve that stress without feeling bloated and gross (which I do even after one glass). I am hoping this retraining of my brain will continue to last after 1/31 and I can reserve wine for just special occasions or a dinner out, etc. instead of a stress reliever.

Congrats to everyone who is still doing this! To those who are struggling, I promise it will get easier. This is my 2nd year doing it and it doesn't really feel like a big deal (unlike last year). It's easier to remind myself that a glass of wine doesn't actually make some experience from earlier less annoying. I can do that with my own mind instead.

Keep at it! You've got this!!

I feel great. I vacillate between never wanting to drink again and really really wanting a glass of wine. I thought about making a mocktail last night but later decided I was really in the mood for a cup of tea. I’m not sure I’ve ever craved a cup of tea before!

Good luck to everyone going into the weekend.

That is ideal.

11 days and it’s been going well. Had my first hankering for a glass of wine after work tonight, but I plan to take a nice bath and then cozy up with a hot and a show I want to watch.

Yesterday would be easy, as I had to drive for an event, but still counts! I have a zoom call this evening so that will be enough of a distraction. Wednesday will be a trigger.

Me too. Once you’re out of the wine habit, you can cut down on the chocolate. I’ve done this before. I start adding in regular snacking foods with chocolate. Like a banana, cashews, Clementine, small amount of yogurt and granola, or peanut butter. Whatever I like well enough. Then I cut that out. I don’t mind not losing weight or not being super healthy for a while. Goal one for me is to cut out alcohol. Goal two is replace and the stop the evening snacking, which can be later.

This makes sense. Part of it is the sugar your body craves from feeding it sugar through alcohol.
