I dunno, I think she also underestimated the racism in the royal family and the British press, and just how cruel the press would be and how unwilling the RF would be to back her up. Even if you think she is a grifter or a fraudster the racism is still pretty appalling.
I think Meghan also overestimated the amount of influence she would be able to exert. She reminds me of a colleague who joined my very large government agency and for some reason thought that she could come in and immediately start changing the way things were done. Not surprisingly, it rubbed people the wrong way, and she was gone in less than a year. I think Meghan came in wanting to do various things and had visions of changes she wanted to make, it rubbed people the wrong way (especially coming from a person with absolutely no familiarity or knowledge of the Firm), and things snowballed from there.

She had no to little interaction with her children. Same with the grandkid and great grandkids. Let’s stop acting like she was this great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. This is all spin for littles.

She was both. She was 20. How can you not be naive at 20.
Interesting that you are speculating Diana. Charles definitely knew what she would get into. I would lay some of the blame on him
Diana grew up in a house on the Queen’s Sandringham estate before her father became Earl, and her grandmother was a Lady in Waiting to the Queen Mother. She had to understand what the life entailed. I do think she was very naive about her relationship with Charles.
So Charles should have known better
Charles was not naive and knew how her life would change
He should bear some of the blame
He was basically told by the Queen and Philip to marry someone “suitable” (not Camilla) and do it ASAP.
And as a grown man he could not use his own head?
And the Queen herself was ignorant and naive as to how Diana’s life would change?

Obviously the Camilla stuff was humiliating because it was so public but faithful love marriages are exceptionally rare among royal couples.
Anyone who thinks that Diana would have “loved Charles forever” is an utter moron. She didn’t love him and wasn’t expected to.
Frankly, the royal family made a terrible choice with her. She was unfit for such a public role. Aside from being able to birth an heir, the most important thing should be thick skin. The woman couldn’t even hold her head up, for heavens sake. I don’t know what the royal family was thinking.
But that’s kind of what’s so detestable to me. If Charles wanted someone who would silently accept his affairs step one is don’t marry a 19 year old virgin. Like he really could’ve married someone that got to experience the world the way that he had or at least someone with a fully matured brain but just felt entitled to sow his wild oats into his thirties and then marry someone who is too young to have done the same.
Blame the queen for this, because she was the one who required that he marry a virgin.
The Queen was a bad queen and a bad mother. I never will understand why people admire this woman.
You’re applying modern standards and not considering the unique circumstances of her upbringing.
The unique circumstances of her upbringing, as has now been demonstrated many times over, were terrible for children.
She was a bad mother. She openly disliked Charles and doted on Andrew.
