I’m sympathetic to her, 9 years is ridiculous. But there are so many Americans that this happens to, drug laws in some countries are extreme. A prisoner swap for an arms dealer is way overboard. What about the other 1000+ Americans doing oversees jail time for drugs, we can’t just swap everyone? Also she had a month warning, the US told people to leave Russia. It’s similar to the people who stayed in Ukraine and expected rescue after the US had been telling them to leave for weeks. Sometimes personal responsibility is a thing. Feel bad but a swap comes with consequences, wouldn’t other countries just start jailing Americans to get their real bad prisoners (spies, arms dealers etc) back.

If Russia were trying to set her up they wouldn’t have just put a few vape cartridges. They would have at least put a full cartridge or 4 or a few joints. She was not set up.

Exactly. Arrest prominent Russian nationals, especially those with ties to Putin and oligarchs on flimsy trumped up charges and give them extremely harsh sentences.
