Backing into spaces? Why, you morons who argue against this? Let's say you're going to an event. The time distribution of people arriving is spread out a lot more than the time distribution of people leaving. Backing out of a space (or backing in) takes a lot more time than pulling in. It's way more efficient for people to back in during the time when there are fewer people per minute trying to park. So back in when you arrive, pull out (much quicker and less impact on others) when you leave. This is the way.

Zipper lane merge on a highway? Fine. But if we're on Mass ave and traffic is crawling and cars are parked blocking the right lane, and you think you're leap frogging around me in the two-car-lengths space between parked cars, think again. Wait your goddamned turn behind me because all you're doing by trying to get around me is further clogging up the mess.

Causing a backup of traffic in the left lane or not checking your mirrors to move over when others behind you want to pass should be subject to fines.

People should be using their horns more. At people slow to move at a green light, people edging out of their lane, etc.

“Leave yourself an out” is a fundamental driver safety practice, rendered impossible by joining a “rat pack” moving down the road as a unit.

Many, if not most, drivers vastly overestimate their ability, particularly as to emergency maneuvers or the behavior of a vehicle at high speeds. Only a minuscule percentage of drivers who have completed any sort of post-licensure driver training, even fewer in actual vehicles under actual driving conditions.

OP (hello almost a year later, OP!) is probably the Lake Wobegon of driving. He’s the best driver ever and he alone is a special driver who can and should be going 60 in a 45, 45 in a 30 and however fast he wants to go in a school speed zone when kids are present.

OP is my unpopular driving opinion. People who don’t get it. If I, a pedestrian, get hit by OP doing 60, I’m dead. If I get hit by Distracted Dan doing 20, I’m still injured, but I might not be because I might have been able to get to the curb.
