Subject: White tie early in the day?
Did anyone confront the in laws who were being snobby about the dress code? I would have been steamed that folks were in jeans and polos and I'm in something hot and sweaty

I've seen "pay $1 to dance with the bride", "pass the hat", and a wishing well. Two of those at one wedding so the raffle doesn't seem trollish to me.
From OP's description I think the couple thought "white tie" meant relaxed.

At least clean clothes
The point is that they DID care, enough to announce a dress code. The hilarious part is that they have no idea what they are making a big deal over something of which they are clearly misinformed. Hysterical.

I kind of like the raffle idea. Flower arrangements are expensive and it seems like kind of a voluntary fun idea. I would throw $5 in and be psyched if I won a bouquet!
But I’d be a little irked if I showed up in a ball gown and the groomsmen were wearing jeans.
