Second article I saw stated that it was a squatter who refused to leave. The owner and their family didn't have the resources or time to deal with the eviction process and hoped that the new owners could do it.

I heard the same thing but it was all CASH. Which makes a difference considering the outdated shape the main floors are in plus the vagrant problem.
