Just had awful pizza and am reminded how important recommendations are.

I miss Astor Pizza in Adams Morgan. A covid casualty.

New Washingtonian has article on this which suggests some. Could not get a usable link though.

Focused on Tavern Pizza and recommended:

Nighthawk Brewery & Pizza in Arlington.

ChurchKey Logan Circle.

VA - Crust

Saw website for Crust. Looks great!

Crust is the best Neapolitan pizza around. I think it is better than pupatella

Same here! Though I do like the fire and smoke at Matchbox Pizza. Shame that their crust is so thin nowadays.

What style is Matchbox?

Very thin and very crispy. I think they make them that way so that they can make a large number of pizzas in a short amount of time. And probably to make you order more food, because you are still hungry after eating one pizza.

Valentino's is the best. I'm not sure why their crust is so much better than anyone else's, but it is. They seem a little more friendly lately too.

Mama Lucia in Fairfax. Might be different than MD chain, not sure. I love how it's NY style, but not soggy.

Paisanos too.

Arlingtonian here who is still mourning the loss of our Pete's.

Good toppings but way too chewy.

Chewy is good. Like Ray’s in the Village (aka the Original Ray’s).
