You'll cerntanly get a good job with a CS degree especailly from a top school like Notre Dame.
No need to go to a over-crowded public school with cutthroat competitiveness.
So Notre Dame for any major.
and choosing UVA over Notre Dame for any major is just a flat non-sense.
Not if you are in-state and not Catholic. What about ND ranking only 285 globally did you miss? UVA got my kid into Cambridge for grad work. There are a lot of UVA students at Oxbridge
Some might choose UVA if paying significantly lesss for in-state tuition and/or wanting to stay close to mommy.
My kid got in both Notre Dame and UVA. Not even a second thought just like most people.
https://www.parchment.com/c/college/tools/college-cross-admit-comparison.php?compare=University+of+Notre+Dame&with=University+of+Virginia
those 21% are the ones paying in-state and/or wanting to stay close to mommy.
Only if Catholic. It would never occur to in-state Virginians to even apply to ND. Why?
Why? ND is a step up, and UVA is boring as hell with like 70% Virginians??
As opposed to going to a school with majority white midwestern Catholics? Ha ha.
So not a big fan of the Catholic church hierarchy in the US, e.g., plans to deny Kerry, then Biden communion, etc. That said, one of the smartest people I ever collaborated with on a project when working in DC was an ND alum. One of the best dads I know is an ND alum. Both are huge boosters of the school and their daughters, both are pro-choice, and both grew up in predominantly white Catholic communities in the US, etc.
I might paint with a finer brush here.

Colby College, Notre Dame, UC Berkeley, Boston College, Colgate, Fordham, Boston University, UVA, Villanova, Tulane, and UMD.
I do hiring and I reject the premise of these types of questions. The premise is we would favor applicants from these colleges in some sort of rank order, with an applicant from the lowest rung having much chance of succeeding against the school on the highest rung. In my general experience, the candidate is what matters most, and assuming the schools are roughly in the same broad level of quality, it doesn't matter that much, and these schools are largely in a similar category.

Notre Dame vs UVA
79% choose Notre Dame. 95% would probably choose Notre Dame if cost is same.

UVA is clearly a step down from Notre Dame.
Notre Dame is ranked higher and studetns clearly favor it over Berkeley or UVA.
? That really wasn't the question though. Which grad are firms more likely to hire. I'd say in this area Uva. maybe, depends on the major of course.
I have strong views on how the Catholic church treats women, especially in view of its politics on women's reproductive health. I wouldn't trust any ND grad to view women as equal to men. Big pass.
LOL your loss.
Yes, ND has one of the lowest rape crime rate.
ND grads are expect to respect women the most based on such data.
Hege loss for that person.

Notre Dame #183

I wouldn’t be bragging too much about ND either. Both schools are not heavily hitters internationally.
We are much more interested in the Undergraduate ranking. We'll worry about Graduate stuff some other time somewhere else.
The fact is that Notre Dame is the only solid T20 school from the list by the de facto official ranking = USN&WR.
https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities
Enough already.
ND is not a “ top 20 school” as you keep posting because that USNWR rank is only for universities - it does not include the very top colleges like Pomona. Also please note UVA is 25 on that same list you keep citing. Considering there are over 4,000 institutions of higher learning in the US, I think your constant “but ND is a top 20 school and so much better than UVA!” to be a bit absurd and disingenuous, especially since ND is 85 percent Catholic. I certainly didn’t want my DCs to apply to ND. You are comparing apples to oranges

Mainly because UMD is the safety school for MD students who are applying to MIT. Whereas UVA is the reach school for VA students.
UVA is ranked no. 4 for public universities by USN&WR. UMCP is no. 20. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public
