Thomas Bach, the head of IOC, appealed to world to "give peace a chance". It seems that the cold war warriors have zero interest to do so. Not only that, they accuse others who don't follow their order as traitors.
Give peace a chance? Just look at China’s actions towards the people of Hong Kong and Taiwan in recent years. Not sure how the IOC could talk about “peace” with China with a straight face.
You are right - we should be equally critical of all Americans who choose to compete for oppressive regimes like China, Russia, North Korea, etc.
US is not so much peace loving either, according to Jimmy Carter (see the leak below), and invaded Iraq for manufactured allegations that resulted in tens of thousands of civilian deaths.

China certainly cracked down on the freedom in HK, but how many deaths resulted from the police action? I know for a fact that in the 2019 protest there is zero death in the hand of police.
The CCP killed millions of their own people during the 20th century. They are ethnic cleansing Uyghurs. They are cleansing out Mongolians in Inner Mongolia, which is a territory they invaded and annexed. I love how one has to come from a country with a 100% clean record of morality in order to be able to lodge any criticisms of current ongoing issues that are wrong. Sure, the US has made many gaffes in its history and it has done bad things. Unlike China or Russia, however, at least our citizens talk about it and are open to criticizing it. We even protest over it. If you look at enough history, no country ever has a clean conscience/slate. It's a tired and true tactic of CCP and Russian propagandist mouthpieces to always divert to whataboutisms and history in order to try to deflect. How much do you get paid per hour over there in Beijing?

But we are talking about a country that is currently engaging in genocide against one of their ethnic minorities and has has violently seized power over HK. They kill and/or disappear ANYONE who disagrees with the gov't. They are also helping other oppressive regimes and raping the third world for resources. And the world is supposed to just say "That's just China being China"?
No. The IOC absolutely should have pulled the Olympics out of China.

Haha. Someday she’ll learn adults can see through BS like this. Maybe not the uneducated though!
A prop manufactured for a totalitarian regime if I ever saw one.

I imagine Gu could have made the US team? She chose to compete for China.
Dual citizenship is not the same as two citizenships.
Huh? Please explain.
Dual citizenship is mutual recognition of your double citizenship countries by these two countries; that is, they realize you are a citizen of both and recognize you as such, with mutual rights and responsibilities. It is usually governed by a treaty between two specific countries.
Two citizenships is just that; you hold two passports. Or more. When you're in one country, you're treated as a citizen of that country. When you're in the other country, you're treated as a citizen of that country. Both countries behave as if in their eyes, your "other" citizenship does not exist.
