I'm just glad Northam had the foresight to transfer ownership of Richmond's confederate statutes to the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, to limit Youngkin's ability to restore them.

Please, Republicans, answer this question. If all parents get to have the final say about the curriculum in their kids' schools, what happens when you have opposing viewpoints at the same school? Who gets to decide which parents' views win?

When he says 'parents' he means 'conservatives'. So it's possible he'd be fine with the additions to the curriculum that you mention.

The best way to understand things is that Republicans want the curriculum to reflect their own political views but not the views of anyone they disagree with (hence the obsession with book banning).

I am not a fan of CRT but I’m less of a fan of officials butting their hands into educational matters. I dont want this idiot impacting my child’s education

Can’t wait til I can choose to not do the DTaP, Hep A &B, MMR, and polio vaccines! Why does the school / gov know what’s better for MY kid? I mean, polio is not that bad for most who get it.

He’ll make it worse by removing mask mandates and increasing covid rates.

FCPS put out a statement yesterday saying that they will continue to follow the CDC guidelines and require that masks be worn. They said they are "reviewing" the EO that Youngkin put out in the meantime. Read the EO. There are plenty of holes in it. We shall see. So far I think the EOs are just red meat for his base.

FCPS is trying like heck to avoid a shut down. Youngkin is making a shut down more likely.

How many parents are going to send their kids to public school without masks? Don't you trust your fellow Fairfax County resident?

I don’t know about FCPS, but I actually expect there will be few issues in APS; FCPS may not be much different. 87% of Arlington voters voted for McAuliffe, leaving a pretty small number of APS parents who supported Youngkin. Of those, plenty probably want to get rid of masks, but a substantial number of those won’t want to make their kids bear the brunt of it by having them go into then school building without a mask, be part of a battle over whether they get to stay in the building, and then if they do, knowing their teachers likely resent them and their kids’ friends’ parents may exclude the kid socially. That’s leaves a very small number of parents who oppose masking and feel strongly enough about it that they will put their kids through it, despite the repercussions for their children.

FALSE. 77 percent of Arlington County voters voted for Terry.

Yes, that was a typo, I meant to type 77%. The rest of the point still stands.

This is a lot of meaningless drivel from a consultant class loser who couldn’t even be trusted be the single CEO of his own company. If he was 5’7”, he would have gotten nowhere in life. A lot of Virginians were hoodwinked, or fleeced, by this fool. He’s going to take your money, give it to his charter school friends, and leave your kids back in underfunded public schools with people who have no other options left. But hey, your kids will get to wave the flag and you’ll get to feel special and heard, so enjoy that. They won’t get into any decent college or make Youngkin money with that kind of ignorance, but there’s a lot to be said for retail and fast food jobs these days.

If FCPS says we are mask optional, my kids aren't wearing masks once this omicron surge is over.

You have no clue what’s coming behind the omicron surge, this is a pretty empty proclamation. What if there’s another variant that’s even worse?

Yeah, doesn't he know that the Democrats of NoVA aren't subject to democracy? They get to do what they want regardless of what outcome the legitimate process.

Localities should not comply with an executive order that requires them to break state law. Seems like we will need judicial resolution of this conflict if Youngkin won’t back down on his EO.

That’s quite the self-made governance crisis for his first weeks in office. Total rookie error because Youngkin has no experience in government and doesn’t understand how it works.

Henrico too.

Good for them. Glad to leadership with backbone.

Is he going to send in armed police to enforce his EO? How much backbone does he have?
