Yes, but I’m not going to fight students and parents on it. That’s above my pay grade.

Well you will have to deal with me if you sit some maskless kid next to my child. So you will have to deal with this either from the maskless folks or the masked folks. Buckle up.

Not in a corner, but I’ll update my seating chart for sure.
But what if it is one/two kids? Do you put them in the back together?

FCPS knew that the lifting of a mask mandate was coming when Youngkin was to be inaugurated. With the state-wide mandate FCPS School Board and/or administration really did not have to make a decision, just say this is mandated by the Commonwealth.
I have not read the executive order, but sounds as if school boards may still impose the mandate – but perhaps parents can opt their children out in some way. One would have thought FCPS would have had ready and communicated their plan having two months since the election to make a decision about keeping the mandate in place for FCPS or not. And if an opt out, which I was not aware was going to be part of the order was to be an option, how that opt-out would be implemented.
Have they done so? I do not know. I do not think so. Maybe I missed something, but what is the “rule” starting on Tuesday assuming school is in session?
FCPS released a statement saying that they would continue to mandate masks, even when/if Youngkin changes it. They even quoted SB1303 saying that the bill requires “full adherence to mitigation strategies”…oh the irony. 😊
But how will that address this opt-out thing that Youngkin says he is instituting?
What prevails when an EO contradicts a law like sb1303?
Laws enacted by a Congress trump an EO

FCPS wo;; get sued. Teachers won't be able to enforce masks in high school.

Why not?
And as of right now - FCPS said they’re requiring masks.
But if I understand the EO correctly, it doesn’t matter what FCPS requires—parents can opt out. And there’s no procedure or process for opting out. It’s as simple as just sending your kid maskless
Correct.
FCPS cannot require a mask as of January 24th, nor impose procedural requirements for opting out.

“ Superintendent of Richmond schools says he’ll defy the executive order from Governor Youngkin regarding masks in school. Youngkin said his order gives parents the right to choose whether their kids wear a mask or not. The first of many battles on this.”
