Other types of vaccines are required to attend school. Why should the Covid vaccine be any different?

I feel the opposite way. I don’t see how their poorly worn masks are doing anything and hear how schools have been open without masks throughout the pandemic. I will enforce whatever rules my district, FCCPS sets. I am concerned they want to mask forever and will keep the mask mandate next year too. If that’s the case I will go to any district nearby that doesn’t require them.
I’m in FCCPS and think a lot of people here want to mask forever. Please stay and be a reasonable voice! My kids will keep masking because it makes them feel comfortable and they’re very aware of the social blow-back they’d get if they unmasked. I’ll leave it up to them to decide if/when they stop wearing masks once it’s no longer mandated.
A lot there do want to mask forever. While I would love to be a reasonable voice, I will never speak up because that would not be well received by those making the highest decisions. The mask forever and push on vaccinations is a turn off for many. I am fully vaccinated and boosted but do not like the constant pressure on parents to vaccinate and booster their children. I think it should be a personal decision and find it overreaching and upsetting. I can only say that on an anonymous forum. I believe in vaccines but think it’s up to parents to decide for their own children and don’t like the constant announcements, emails and tweets.
FCCPS has instituted a "vaccine passport"-you cant attend indoor sporting events nor musicals without a vaccine--I believe even the 5-11 kids need the "passport"---will this stay legal under Youngkin?
Totally pro vax here but FCCPS has really created a hostile atmosphere, if you dont subscribe to "Dr" Noonan, DR or ED SCIENCE LOL then you feel like living as a gay person in the most homophobic town back in the 50s.....so at a certain point---can I pay these taxes and support this hostility? Or the bigger question is--do I want to?
I’m the teacher and this is what I’m taking about. I don’t think it’s right now they are pushing the vaccines like they are and making them mandatory for participation in anything. Students can’t even join a club if they can’t prove they are vaccinated, even if the club meets virtually. I don’t see this changing soon unless someone forced the issue legally.

But in essence any parent can now opt their child out so doesn’t need that mean from a practical standpoint no mandate?

Youngkin has immediately put school children at risk. Absolutely disgusting.

Why does Youngkin pretend he care about parent rights when he only means a narrow section of parents’ rights? I am a parent and do not feel like he is respecting my rights or those of my children by encouraging the spread of a virus during the surge and decreasing the number of people willing to work at our school. Why can’t he actually try to do the job instead of continuing to play politics? The Republican Party is so focused on control they don’t care about doing the job.
