Check out the thread on Brown offering full FA for families making less than $120,000/yr with no regard to home equity. WashU offers a family making $120,000 approximately $10,000-15,000 in grants.

To compete with ivies, a lesser school like WashU would have to triple the amount of FA ivies are offering. No idiot will consider WashU for anything less than 3x.

At some point, the choice to apply to the "top 10" just isn't worth it. Why burn an ED on a total lottery when you can ED to what would have been an ED2 or match and be done with the process?
