Their is very little Republicans and conservatives won't sacrifice at the altar of Trump - their dignity, their money, immigrants, fellow Americans, and on and on...

Their savior Trump is never satisfied however.

The constitution, rule of law, actual conservatism, free markets, ethics, character, integrity, American exceptionalism, competence - the list is endless

Importers expedited shipments in July (at record levels) to lock in the interim 10 pct tariff before the big increases began. As I have said on other threads, YOU will feel all of this right around Nov/Dec…

His personal wealth is doing much better as a result of being president. He likely wasn’t a billionaire in 2016. He is one several times over now due to all the grifting.

This was pretty obvious if you look at the CPI numbers closely. The headline CPI number was being driven down by a short term dip in oil. But the underlying trend is definitely going up and it’s very obvious it’s caused by tariffs.

Whether you agree with tariffs or not (i.e., whether you're a MAGA shill bowing to the emperor), it's simply not policy that will result in reduced inflation. It's a math problem. We're just getting started.

"Wholesale prices rose far more than expected in July, providing a potential sign that inflation is still a threat to the U.S. economy, a Bureau of Labor Statistics report Thursday showed.

The producer price index, which measures final demand goods and services prices, jumped 0.9% on the month, compared to the Dow Jones estimate for a 0.2% gain. It was the biggest monthly gain since June 2022.

Excluding food and energy prices, core PPI rose 0.9% against the forecast for 0.3%. Excluding food, energy and trade services, the index was up 0.6%, the biggest gain since March 2022.

On an annual basis, headline PPI increased 3.3%, the biggest 12-month move since February and well above the Fed’s 2% inflation target."

It can be (and was) meaningful while still being below expectations.

Expectations are not a science, they are just a survey of Wall St. economists. Like Powell said, *everyone* expected inflation to be meaningful. Being 0.1% less than the media's forecast number does not make it small.

On what basis should the Fed cut rates?! By their mandates, and given economic conditions -- chiefly tariffs -- the idea of cutting rates is absurd.

So we are now supposed to believe these BLS numbers, but not the ones reported two weeks ago? Hmm …..

And we're not supposed to believe our own eyes and wallets? The cost of clothing, shoes, handbags has been going up. Furniture costs are starting to go up. Cost of appliances are starting to go up. Price of coffee is going up. That Playstation 5 just got more expensive. The price of car seats is going up. In many cases retailers are still working with pre-tariff inventories but I'm starting to see it hit in a lot of places. By October it will be in full swing.

The tariffs get passed on to the consumer. That's inflation.

Add to that the labor shortages that will start racking up due to deportations. That will also drive a lot of costs up.

Anyone saying inflation isn't happening or won't happen is lying.
