2. If you think about it Hillbilly Elegy is really about how rich people are better than poor people. He’s explaining why they would make an idiotic choice to elect Trump (his view at the time now obviously different). It’s paternalistic. Because that’s his core value he will do and say whatever it takes to enrich himself. Thats why you can’t reconcile the shift because there’s nothing there but a desire to obtain money, there are not core moral compass.
