My kids have played soccer with El Salvadorians for years and even they know that El Salvador is nothing compared to the countries I referenced. Look, I have been around Latin Americans most of my life and none of them considers Bolivia a leader in producing athletes in any sport. Please stop!

To a true Spaniard or Argentine, they wouldn't give any weight to a kid from those country anymore than they would to an American. They would be looking at the player. In fact, it's funny to see Spanish coaches go for the 'blond' kid time and time again. They do love the Rubios!

Also, this is not a stereotype. US women are known for their soccer prowess. US men are not. Bolivia has qualified for one world cup in 50 years. Countries dread being placed in a world cup brackets with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia or Mexico. As such, most serious players will not be enthused to play in a game with Bolivians if there is another game with Argentines or Brazilians playing down the road. If all you have is a choice between Bolivians and US Men, I might pick the Bolivians but that does not mean they have a reputation for futbol, because they do not.

This is a silly discussion. I lived in BA when Argentina lost to Boliva 6-1 with a team that included sveral of the hottest players in the world including Messi, Tevez and Di Maria. I attended the game agianst Colombia the Saturday before they lost to Bolivia on Tuesday. They beat Colombia by a similar score. The reality is that team was sporadic at best and if not for a last second goal from a 36 year-old player against Peru, they would have lost.

Look, if you or I are living in Beijing and someone says, "Hey, there is a league of Brazilians that plays on the weekends," you and I will go. If it a league of Argentines, English, Germans, French, etc., we will go. If you say that there is a lague of Bolovians or Dominicans, we are not going to waste our time unless we really want to play. The point is that the nation of Bolivia is not known for their sports. Sure, you can find people here or there but it is not know for sports, especially soccer.

Bolivia for all your condescension has beaten Argentina in official matches by 6-1 and 2-0 within the past 10 years. How did we do the last time we played Argentina? Oh right.... Again, you come across as ignorant and spiteful.

That’s got nothing to do with whether a country of 8 million can produce good athletes or not. Someone lied about the history and achievements of a country and they were proven to be lying. Yes it is 2018, and the US will be watching from home just like the Bolivians.
