You’re likely correct, but if DOGE deems your non-response as a resignation, they may order HR to process you out of federal service. You’ll have to fight to get your job back. You’ll likely win, but the process to get your job back will be stressful. Reminds me of that old saying, “you can beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride.”

I don’t really understand this attitude. I mean, sure, I’ll follow leadership, but I know that leadership will just tell us to do whatever “they want.” Leadership doesn’t have a choice.
