But to add to my previous post - I agree with the other posters who have called you out for saying Melania "wears" a scowl. Like you assume it's deliberate and not just meant to be a neutral expression.
I mean, the woman is a public figure and former model. Are you telling me she doesn't know how to comport herself in public? I don't believe that for a second. She is either doing it on purpose, or truly just doesn't care. I think probably the latter.

That's kind of mean, I only figured it out recently.
(this has some parameters after the jpg so will just have to see what happens.
Arabella's coat fits her better than Ivanka's fits Ivanka.
But why are they wearing coats? They’re upstairs in the residence, I think. The men’s coats have been removed and hung up.
They are wearing coats because Kate Middleton wears coat dresses. They want to be perceived as Royal.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The leggings/puffer outfit is cute but not exciting or interesting. It's how lots of rich women dress on the weekend, down to the combat boots, sunglasses, and hairstyle.
I think people who obsess over Melania being a fashion icon don't get that you can't be a trend follower and a trend setter at the same time. She's not inspiring anyone. She doesn't seem original or interesting to me -- you can find women dressing like this all over Instagram.
I will grant that Hamburglar-chic was an interesting choice, but I don't think it's going to be sweeping the nation.
Melania Trump clearly knows exactly what she wants and how she wants to look and is not listening to any of us. Her style is conservative but impeccable. Yes, she dresses as a very, very, very rich, very formal, very private woman And she knows how to cut a figure and when she's dressed to make a statement, she absolutely makes a statement without being flashy. You really cannot fault how she dresses because she is unmissable, similar to how Kate Middleton can dress to be noticed when she wants to, without being extravagant or flashy or tacky. At the same time Melania is not seeking to be a fashion icon or trendsetter.
One of Melania's advantages is she also knows how to carry herself. The modeling comes in handy here.

I think the sunglasses and scowl are what really make it look weird. She looks like the hot older mom at school dropoff before going to exercise class.
I think it bizarre that you have an emotional reaction at all to what someone else is wearing. Also, her outfit was fine. She is certainly attractive and generally dresses to suit her figure. Hate on her husband’s politics (like everyone else) but don’t use that as a reason to hate on her outfits. Her outfit was every bit as appropriate as the matronly dress and white sport sandals that Jill wore for a similar occasion (and M looked better in hers).

There is a poster, perhaps the PP, who is so over-the-top in her reactions to anything Melania Trump wears. She did that on the Usha Vance thread too - just so incredibly offended by what she deemed "inappropriate" clothing. It is, indeed, bizarre - especially considering Melania almost always looks wonderful (inauguration day hat excepted!).
I'm sorry but if you think that leggings, a short puffer, a beanie, sunglasses, and a scowl is a "wonderful" look for visiting hurricane victims, you aren't operating with a full tank.
Do some of you think it’s really appropriate to wear a dress to visit disaster zones? It really telegraphs “I won’t even think about lifting a finger” IMO…
Other than comforting people, what is a First Lady’s role in a disaster zone? Nobody brings in FLOTUS to do any actual work, and even if they did, Jill Biden is in her 70s, so it’s not going to be hard physical labor.
Sneakers and a shirt dress definitely look like summer “ready to pitch in” clothes for an elderly lady. She could hand out water, dish out food, etc. if she were in high heels and a pencil skirt, I’d say differently. But this is the kind of outfit that my grandmother could have cleaned a whole house, baked two pies, and wrote a letter in. It’s very practical.
I’ll reiterate I thought Melania was fine assuming she took off the beanie and glasses when they were actually meeting people — otherwise it’s a very “don’t talk to me” look.
Jill had on godawful white platform sandals - not sneakers.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:A midi-length shirt dress is totally appropriate. You may not like how she looks but she looks totally correct for the occasion.
And the exact same bolded statement is true of Melania and her outfit (given it was worn during a historically cold week in NC).
There's no objective gauge for this. To me, she Melanie looks like she should wear a big sign that says I REALLY DONUT CARE on her. Leggings, a beanie, that scowl - she does not look like she's there to provide empathy or aid to people who have suffered. But you like her, so clearly we can have different opinions.
DP. I don’t like her in the slightest, but you are simply wrong. You’re grasping at straws to find fault with her perfectly acceptable outfit because you DON’T like her.
Also, her scowl? I’ll bet you would get offended if someone told you to smile, so maybe take a second and think about how obnoxious a criticism that is…

NP - yes and no. Melania’s outfit, while tired, is objectively fine. What’s odd is that she and Drump look like they are going to 2 different events, even though it’s literally a photo op. Like she’s just stopping by before she hits the slopes (or the school pickup line) At least the Bidens look like a partnership.

She is the same color as her husband with the same mouth. They are looking more like each other all the time.
She is not aging well. Does she own a mirror?
I'm going to take issue with this, and I have love lost for Melania. I loathe the Trumps.
Yeah, this is an unflattering picture of her, but this is how mid-50's women who have not injected their face with a ton of fillers and who haven't done plastic surgery look (like so many of the other Trump women). They are aging. This is aging. Melania is aging just fine. She is still an attractive woman.
You’re saying the Trumps do not use fillers or plastic surgery? 🤣 Thank you for the laugh. That was good.
All you have to do is look at their changing faces over the years, especially Eric, Tiff, and Ivanka and definitely Melania.
The adult Trump kids had no chins as children. Those existing chins did not suddenly grow by themselves. The gummy Eric smile did not disappear by itself.
Melania looked like she used filers. You could tell by how filled and puffy her skin was four years ago. Now she is wrinkly so maybe stopped using fillers.
No I said I don't think Melania has had plastic surgery or uses fillers, not the rest of the Trumps. I'll add that if she has, it's pretty minimal and subtle. I think Botox is a given.

Seriously? You think her nose just changed its shape over time? it's pretty obvious she's had a lot of work done. Even her eyes aren't the same.
Her lower lid has moved upward. I wonder why. Is it because her skin was pulled back to remove wrinkles?
She has big pores now and lots of wrinkles around her mouth.

Melania looks amazing. Botox and all. Have you seen recent pictures of Caroline Kennedy? She looks far older than 67, but clearly is all natural. Kind of amazing and yet…not…that Caroline Kennedy at age 67, thin, and using hair dye, is described at Nerd Central as “looking far older” than sixty freaking seven.
