How did he get elected?
Illegal immigration
Light consequences for criminal behavior
Public schools/education
Democrats need to address those issues by speaking out strongly and making big imorovements in thoae areas. That recent innocent victim (Philadelphia beauty queen) and the girl on Charlotte transit both were murdered due to lax policies and low bail/no bail liberal policies for violent criminals..
Thing is, for all his tough talk, and putting National Guard and federal police on the streets of DC, crime didn't really go down, and nothing's really changed much in terms of prosecutions and outcomes.
Likewise, ICE is scooping up illegals all over the country but crime isn't going down. If the illegals were supposedly committing so much crime then why hasn't the crime rate gone down much?
And schools, what has Trump done about schools to improve outcomes? They want schools renamed after Charlie Kirk and other stupid shit that isn't improving anything... while gutting the programs to help special needs kids and other things.
This is all theater and its a shame you don't see it right in front of your nose.
You’re both right.
Trump’s “genius” is identifying things that motivate voters. Illegal immigration, patriotism, crime, Fed government waste and inefficiency (perceived), etc.
Unfortunately, his “solutions” are abominable. Truly a case where the cure is worse than the disease.
But given a choice between (a) someone who tries to fix a problem imperfectly, and (b) someone who doesn’t even acknowledge the problem? Many voters will choose option a.
Mamdani is actually a great example of this. His “solutions” are idiotic, but at least he’s talking about problems that people care about. Very Trumpian.
That’s not the choice. It is:
a) talk about the problem by blaming some minority group and never fix it*
b) talk about policy in wonk terms, face opposition, and cobble something together, then lose credit for it.
*the only accomplishment Trump has is banning 12 trans athletes. He’s had a lot of arrests of law-abiding immigrants while failing to actually deport criminal — please check Google to easily verify.

The president's net approval rating is -16%,
down 0.7 points since last week.
39% approve, 56% disapprove, 4% not sure

Overall approval: 38-54
Approval on economy: 39-56
Approval on trade: 39-54
On National Guard into cities: 42-55
On immigration, his "best" issue: 41-55
Now the kicker is that he doesn't really care. However, the sycophant GOP is going to get crushed as he continues to double down on his horrible policies.
But they won't lose power even if they get crushed because the speaker of the house won't seat anyone duly elected in in November 2026, even if the Dems can fight through the gerrymandering and voter suppression.
How will he do that, exactly?
