I just looked at the original post in this thread and it started out (years ago) around the time of the George Hugely/Yeardly Love murder as a discussion of how the "lacrosse culture" (so-called "laxbros" who are entitled, spoiled, party a lot, get special treatment from teachers and coaches, etc.) at local prep schools (particularly Landon) and at UVA, may or may not have contributed to the tragedy. I am wondering if anyone thinks this laxbro culture has changed in the years since the murder? My son attends another area prep school and plays lacrosse. I haven't seen a lot of the laxbro culture there. Any thoughts?

This is funny. I asked the original question but was not the one following up. My son did get his rejection later that evening (which I was fully expecting, though in fact he is a total stud and I am the complete opposite of a headache).

The knuckleheads and glorified PE teachers who manage lacrosse clubs should appreciate that these are kids. When they see adult figures who have no common decency toward players to inform them of a tryout result, and consider parents who take offense to that to be headaches, well, that about puts them in a gutter where they belong. Insulting customers isn't the best way to run a business either.

This is funny. I asked the original question but was not the one following up. My son did get his rejection later that evening (which I was fully expecting, though in fact he is a total stud and I am the complete opposite of a headache).

I can see why NL didn't bother to contact that family back. Unless the kid is an absolute stud, no reason to deal with a headache like that mom.

Tryouts ended Sunday. Practices started this week. If you want to be seen as a good organization, you should respond back to people who tried out and did not make it. To say they haven't gotten around to it or don't want to bother telling families that haven't made it does not show a well run organization.

Not sure what it is about lacrosse that people are so ready to make excuses for poor behavior of coaches and clubs.


I am 08:26. Do you know how to read? Where in my post did I say such behavior is fine? I was explaining what it meant when you haven't heard any news so far. Nowhere did I say it was fine to leave a family out to dry this long.

+1 we also haven't heard anything back either. They have the right email since they emailed about the tryouts. Not in junk mail. Just a lack of class not to let families know.
