I bet the two oldest girls faced pressure to label themselves as the victims, to deflect attention from the two other sibling victims who are still unmarried. "Damaged goods" is a big thing in their CULTure, they might worry about not getting the younger ones married off and breeding. Just sad.


I hadn't thought about that. So true. As much as the $.80 on the $1 pay thing makes me crazy, I forget how inequality can really play out for women. This is beyond words, really.

Because you have not other skills, can't find a job, and have 19 kids to support?

I mean really people picked on poor Octomom but I would have rather she got a reality show and was supported. At least she didn't pretend she was super religious and then end up going "incest? molestation? What's the big deal? I mean the girls were sleeping so it doesn't even count, right?"

Yes, it's true that some of the attack has been a consequence of their militant anti-gay politics. A lot of the outrage, though, is about their handling of the "bad choice", by ignoring it for a year, dismissing any harm done to the girls, choosing to immediately be the subject of a reality show instead of focusing on their family.

I believe the parents both went to high school. None of the kids have had any schooling beyond homeschool (on a computer, mostly) and internet bible college.

I think M and JB graduated high school. Their kids only get GEDs though (if that).
