Yes, this is the truth. Adding MLS Next would only bolster the GA program at VRSC. GA program will still thrive either way. VRSC has the best facility and that is golden. No more advantages provided by a corrupt Loudoun field allocation system and public park system.

FWIW, Loudoun and PWC both have better field allocations than FFX for youth sports.

FVU has access to many of the Fairfax County fields in theory. McLean’s, Vienna’s, BRYC’s and now potentially GFR’s. Field space is not an issue at the ECNL level.

MLS Next programs for boys are matching with GA clubs. In Springfield, syc is a GA club with MLS Next boys. Revolution has the most likelihood of becoming MLS NeXT despite weak boys teams. MLS NeXT would be a game changer for the club. This would also elevate the GA program.

Same message for ECNL Q1/Q2 players who are going to move from the playing field to the bench as a result of ECNL’s pending switch from birth year to school year cutoffs.

The three NOVA ECNL clubs still fail to compete on the national platform. Even VDA is struggling despite Super Bob. There will be a continual reshuffling as girls that have been misled to believe they were good, given full PT and not improving. The cream will always rise to the top, unless of course the water is hard. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Choosing to get fleeced 4K to play at Revolution because they have a nice field tells you all you need to know about the state of youth soccer in USA in general and Northern VA in particular. Especially when the organization operates shoddily from financial to ethical metrics.

It's a showcase event. Score doesn't really matter as long as the games were competitive which looks to be the case at least for 2010's and 2011's. That's a good sign for VRSC's next couple of years. Oldest age group doesn't matter either as colleges are mostly done recruiting 2025's and already committed players don't all want to pay for travel to CA.

Ok so the older ages with just heritage VRSC players got whooped, and the younger ages with some FCV players did ok

AFAIK there are no heritage VRSC players on any of the GA teams. They are all new to the club, mostly former FCV, but also plenty from other clubs too. The GA teams are really a brand new entity (different players, coaches, & training) with no connection to heritage VRSC.

Yeah but it’s also the case the former FCV players didn’t move to VRSC in meaningful numbers at those older ages. Judge VRSC’s GA progress at 2009 and younger. Again, not even close to where FCV was, but it already appears to be a credible program less than a season in. The question is whether it’s enough to keep their best players from leaving for ECNL and to attract incremental talent for next season. And does the BY/SY switch help or hurt?

What does the performance of two other clubs have to do with VRSC? This is a thread about Revolution, is it not?

Effectively all three are new to GA this year. TSJ used to be FCV but lost all FCV’s players except at oldest team. VRSC picked up a bunch of FCV’s players but the best went ECNL. SYC broke up with McLean/Union. So all three are in different ways new GA programs. Comparing how they’re each doing a few months in makes sense, and VRSC clearly is doing best as a program. That said, SYC is much stronger at the youngest GA level and pre-GA. It will be interesting to see if some “not quite ECNL” players will choose VRSC GA next year over Loudoun’s second team. More time with CC and MJ plus an injection of new talent will drive them further forward.
