Stanford would have to take a 25 percent payout forever then the big ten might take them but probably wouldn’t because a malcontent member is poison.
Big ten doesn’t need Stanford. Stanford has very limited leverage right now
Depends upon how the Big Ten Conference feels about locking up the West Coast & about the tremendous benefits to be derived from cooperation regarding research & academics.
I still think that the B1G will offer both schools. If you don’t see any movement soon, I expect this will be the reason why.

Big Ten--what are you thinking ?
That deal is for the ACC. Probably not for Big10 unless the vote does not work today.
Is it? Will the increased tv payout from Disney after they join (a Disney in cost cutting mode that is not going to be inclined to be generous) even cover the extra travel expenses for the other members?
The schools for it do not care for two reasons. One they want Stanford. Two without expansion the ACC is dead no later than 2036 but perhaps earlier. Expansion and extra cost vs no power conference is a no brainer.

Anonymous wrote:SMU is willing to play for free for 5 to 7 years and Stanford is willing to play for a fractional share of the payout, but Cal needs the money--especially with the anticipated increase of travel expenses. If Stanford & SMU forego all or most of the media rights payouts from ESPN, there will be more money to spread around to the other ACC member schools.
FSU is opposed because FSU wants out of the ACC and into the Big Ten Conference. FSU would prefer that the ACC collapse so that it could get its media rights returned.
Notre Dame is fighting for expansion of the ACC because Notre Dame wants to remain independent and a strong ACC helps Notre Dame do so as Notre Dame's Olympic sports have ACC conference membership.

It would be embarrassing for the ACC to accept Cal and Stanford. It would result in potentially less money, add to travel, and you have to deal with the Californian legislature. They would be taking sloppy thirds. Big 12 and BIG passed on them for a reason.
It makes zero logistical sense. Stanford should beg B1G to let them in
Agree.
News tonight is that the final decision will likely be on Friday. Looking like all three will get the votes but not a done deal. They still need another school to come out even.
