Yes, I also worked in juvenile court, and I don't think anyone is helping violent kids by slapping them on the wrist. Whether or not he has terrible, neglectful parents (obviously he does) - he needs to be in jail.

That poor kid, I feel for him just as I do for the kids he killed and their surviving family. He was not in his right mind, but because of how broken our criminal justice system is (former defense attorney and prosecutor here) he will most likely end up paying as if he was at the time of the act.

I know, but people should also take it seriously - so many do not.

One of the comments stated that she is more heroic than any of the Uvalde cops, and that stood out to me (in addition to her testimony).

You know I was just thinking yesterday (shhhhhh!) how it’s been a while since the last horrific mass shooting and how nice that is. But then I remembered that school is starting everywhere over the next few weeks and doubtless soon after a bloodbath.
