Seems silly to question "what does that say about the club going forward" when the club is doing well.

Over the years they have added younger boys teams after being high school only initially. They have absorbed Cavs and are now considering having two teams per age group.

They have some of the absolute best coaches in the area.

They play in the best tournaments so their guys get seen because they are part of the Crabs consortium.

I'd say the club is doing okay. 23's have had a great run and some strong recruits. I'd expect the same for other classes down the road but it is well said that every club has stronger and weaker teams.So one parent on the 26 team may have a totally different take than a parent on a 28 team. It's not really fair to judge the club on that. You work best with the talent you get and I never got the feeling they weren't executing on that.

All clubs have good teams and weaker teams

According to the 2027 thread, VLC will no longer field a team at that age level. What does that say about the club as a whole moving forward?

VLC is a great club but if you’re in the local area and trying to get your son recruited for college, there’s only 2 clubs worth going to unless you want to drive up to Baltimore or Annapolis 3-4 times a week. And either of those teams are VLC. Pp is correct, college coaches don’t care if you win or lose your club games, but they do show up to the big tourneys where the big named clubs play and of course the big showcases (Nike, JRs open, Deemers BIC, the show).

Lots of D3 liberal arts schools. Great schools, do not mean this at a slight. Still interesting.

I think in the past, it was D1 or nothing for a lot of players/parents. The reality is that D3 schools can provide an opportunity to play lacrosse at the college level and as important maybe more importantly get a great education and some of the most elite colleges in the nation. My son also appreciated the fact that playing D3 was not a full time job. He was even able to fit in additional extracurricular activities and work as a research assistant which he would not have been able to do had he played at the D1 level.

Given the number of D1-DIII colleges that offer lacrosse and how the sport is growing (just look at the explosion of clubs across the country), that's really good, esp. for the 2023s (and I don't think they are done yet). I expect the 2024s will have similar success.

Don't look at IL, it's not accurate. Like looking at US Club Lacrosse rankings to gauge how good a player/team is.
