You put a younger new Dem candidate who is legit and then you will see the difference. The argument that there's nobody else is damning. That's super pathetic you all feel an 81 yr old guy losing his mind who looks like he's 100 has the best chance of defeating a quack like Trump! This is the prob with Dems. No imagination. LBJ talked himself out of running when he saw the writing on the wall (although some suspect he was secretly hoping for a draft movement at the Chicago Convention). But why worry about what's happened in the past? This situation is unprecedented - an incumbent president from a party with a very good shot at winning in 2024, who is so personally unpopular and mentally compromised that he puts the election out of reach. That's exactly when the DNC should step in.
The “writing on the wall” for LBJ was a poorer than expected showing in the New Hampshire primary, something Biden definitely did not experience.

+1. In 2020, I felt we needed to rally around Biden because of the pandemic and the danger of the lunatic egomaniac Donald Trump. But I assumed at the time that Biden would only serve one term, and we could then vote for our favorite Democrat during the 2024 primaries. I feel voiceless because Democrats have not been able to vote for their preferred Presidential candidate in either 2024 or 2020 (when primaries were shut down early).
I have a bit of deja vu with Ruth Bader Ginsburg choosing not to step down from the Supreme Court during the Obama Presidency and the subsequent terrible consequences.
In these times, you cannot just give up the power of incumbancy, particularly when an open primary would pit progressive, liberals and moderates in a fight for the party. Why expose right now with Trump looming when that can be determined in 4 years? as it is, there is no one on the Dem side who polls in such a ways as to be an obvious candidate who can beat Trump. So why take the risk?
Are you kidding? People would vote for a Dem not senile who is a new candidate over this senile incumbent in a heartbeat. Are you living under a rock? He may be the incumbent but he's not all there - keeping a zero power candidate in incumbent or not is silly.

Yes, it is unprecedented. It has never happened.
And, look at all the DCUM threads about who should replace Biden. The answer is, no one else can beat Trump. No one else has the polling, backing or experience to do it. Yes, Biden is old. It is what it is. I would rather have old joe than old and corrupt Trump.
Completely disagree. At this point, Biden is scarier than Trump. Put in another sensible democrat and that calculation changes completely.
