Here’s the lesson plan linked via the above article. It appears to teach what Senator Wiener claims about as much as the Florida book bans are about porn. https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1yHuTs87SSfWaM6qeM6y3RXgEOzjiKF_c75fLMN-2fZk/mobilebasic#h.pg1gql1c1zfc

Curation should be done librarians for the benefit of the schoolchildren - not Fox News addled nincompoops who've never read a book on their own.
Florida schools got hundreds of book complaints — mostly from 2 people

Just 11 people were responsible for most 2021-2022 school book challenges. A Virginia woman challenged 71 out of the 73 books she read.

My hope is that they will slide toward the center once they start paying taxes. As the saying goes, a liberal is just a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet.Anonymous wrote:

What I worry about are all the idiot pro-Palestine college kids who will soon be in the workforce, employed as teachers, lawyers, judges, etc. I can't even fathom what our country is going to look like in the next decade with this generation in positions of power. No wonder they cover their faces during their antisemitic protests. They're cowards and still want to be employed, even after their toxic behavior.

Of course not. Leftists follow critical theory and, as such, believe that Hamas are oppressed and are, therefore, completely justified in their actions. It's not genocide. It's justice.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:

OH, PLEASE. That lesson plan very clearly demonstrates the pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel stance that the school district has taken. Unreal that you see nothing wrong with it.

We’re not allowed to teach children about genocide anymore? Strange.
Are "we" also teaching them that Palestinians want to eradicate the Jewish people (i.e. genocide)? No? Why not?

The book literally says "I is for Intifada" - sorry, you think it's oversensitive thinking that might not be appropriate in schools right now? You think maybe Jewish students and parents might wish a different book were chosen to teach the alphabet?
This thread is a debate between people who trust teachers and librarians and those who are so concerned about various works that they want to take away those people's power to bring reading and lessons to kids. I'm as far from a Moms for Liberty person as you can be - and yet when a topic comes up that touches off my triggers, I start understanding why people get upset about the books that hit them where it hurts. Then I start thinking maybe the public SHOULD have more influence over what books are being taught to kids. I don't think I is for Intifada is appropriate for kids, for example.
Why should I trust YPU or any other parent to decide what books my kid can’t access in school?
