Okay? I think you're not the target audience. There are a lot of othere shows -- and other threads -- though. Maybe you could go over there?

The target audience is NOT “woke” millennials. They THINK they’re going to get them to watch with this nonsense, but no way.

The target audience are the original viewers. And we just want to see what happens to these people. The end. None of this ridiculous writing.

Why do you think this is the only thing that defines the target audience?

Because this show is old. And it had a cult following. No one new is tuning in.

My co-workers in their 20s and 30s are watching. Kim Kardashian is watching. It has been the biggest view audience of a series debut in HBOMax's entire history, and the viewership went up by more than an additional 50% for the second show. That's not all people that look like you and think like you. There just aren't that many of you.

It will be interesting to see where this goes in Nielsen demographics. I'll update the thread when I see it.

Meanwhile, you are (of course) entitled to your opinion. I'd encourage you to consider that there is a lot of the world going on that apparently you don't see or don't understand, but it's still there. Maybe it would be interesting to just let it be and not necessarily try to shut it down.

Well, if Kim Kardashian is watching, you know it must be good.

No, you know it is being watched. "No one new is tuning in" was the error.

She has people sitting in her apartment for hours at a time to help her to the bathroom (get a nurse, lady, or go to rehab) and when Miranda gets high with Che and fools around, Carrie basically verbally abuses her for having the audacity not to be attending to Carrie's every need. But she won't get up out of the bed so Miranda can actually make her comfortable. I would be so out of there.

Uh, what? The fact that she was bedridden aside... if my (married!) friend had loud sex in MY kitchen with MY BOSS while I was in the other room, hell yes I would be pissed. Grown adults should be able to control themselves FFS. If they are that horny they can go find somewhere else to do it. Good lord.

I think you missed the point. It’s how Carrie handled it. It’s always about her being the victim.

Sounds like it’s more about your irrational hated of a fictional character. Might be worth thinking about why you find her so triggering.

I'm honestly not sure why some folks are even watching the show when they find it so deeply upsetting.

I think some people are feeling a lot of rage about other stuff (particularly pandemic-related issues) and were looking for a safe target to take it out on. It’s a lot safer to shred some fictional things characters on an anonymous forum than to admit that your marriage sucks or you feel like all your friends have abandoned you or something like that.

You’re right. When people are both deeply controlling and totally dependent it is definitely a trigger for me. It’s crazy making to have someone say “Take care of me — I can’t take of myself — but you’re doing it wrong and I’m going to blast you for it.” I went through this with my mother leading up to her death and you are quite correct I should stop watching this show.

I think there's plenty of fault to go around. But I would never (and especially being Carrie's age) have put myself in the position of depending on friends rather than having competent skilled help. And then, to lose it on your friends...not a good scene.

How would YOU handle it if you peed yourself because your friend was having sex with your boss in your kitchen? LOL. Some of y'all are so weird. The whole point of that scene was to show how far Miranda has spiralled.

She didn’t need to pee herself. All she had to do was ask for help. As always she made the choice to be a victim.

They were both awful. Maybe that was the point? Although if I had to pick a team, I'd be team Carrie. But while we are on the subject of awful, does Che get a free pass? Just because she is supposed to be a bad a** comedienne, you don't spark up in someone's house and have sex in their kitchen without their permission.

Agree with PP here. She didn't know exactly what to do (would you?) and tried to handle it herself, which didn't work well. In the moment she was covered with pee and angry (wouldn't you have been?) but calmed down as soon as Miranda explained how deeply unhappy she'd been. I don't think she takes her friends for granted and, as self-absorbed as she can be, would do the same for them. For example when Miranda was lonely on NYE or when Charlotte had her baby, panicked during both weddings etc.

Give me a break. She can’t call out, interrupt them, tell them she needs to use the John? Then she has to scold Miranda like a viper?

Not just that, but Miranda got drunk and stoned while she knew Carrie was relying on her to help with post-surgical care. If Carrie had a complication more serious than needing help peeing, Miranda’s intoxication could have been a serious safety issue. Her behavior was incredibly reckless.

From that perspective I agree. The sex didn’t bother me. It was going to happen eventually. Miranda was crushing hard.

Carrie sucks. I didn't used to think so--i.e, when I first watched the show. Now we're both older and I find her insufferable. Annoying as all get out. What an immature, overly dramatic, selfish twit.

I had mixed emotions about the scene. Carrie had a right to be angry with Miranda for inappropriate behavior with Carrie's boss in the kitchen. On the other hand, her outrage and judgment came without any acknowledgment of how much support her friends have given her since Big's death and during the recovery from surgery. Miranda isn't the help. Of course, there's the additional layer of irony in Carrie's judgment for Miranda's infidelity ("you are MARRIED") given Carrie's past.

While I like Che's character, but their behavior was also disrespectful and inappropriate.
