GP got up big in 1st half (like 9-2) and took their foot off the gas. EHS needed a career day from their goalie and a dozen St. Chris unforced turnovers to beat them. EHS will get blown out by Bullis, Prep and Landon just like they did b STAB and PVI, and will be lucky to beat StA.
Surprised St. Chris isn't better. Their 2027 class would be top 3 most talented in the DC area, though more deep with solid players than any true stud. Is Taibl still kicking around down there? I remember him being one of the better coaches in this area a while back.
Taibl is assistant AD at St. Chris and coaches JV lax. The Varsity team could use him.
Satire: Bucknell, Bucknell, Loyola, Richmond for the 27's. Well outside the top 3 in DC area.
Caring about some mid tier team in Richmond is a little tangential here. Hell even the STAB chatter of some is pushing the envelope for what’s relevant on a DMV board but at least they’re quite good and fall into the MIAA-A category of potential benchmarks of comparison.
Potential benchmarks? They'd compete for the MIAA championship. This is a lax board, and STAB is relevant to lacrosse discussions for the area. St. Chris is more equivalent to a St. Paul's/Archbishop Spalding. Respectable but not great. EHS is below all of them right now.
STAB would likely make the MIAA playoffs, but I'm not sure they'd compete for the MIAA championship. Give Nick Bell another year of bringing in boarders and re-classifying kids, and STAB will be a perennial national top 30 program. As for the MIAA is wide open this year between the following teams:
1. Calvert Hall
2. Loyola
3. Saint Marys
4. BL
5. Severn
6. McDonogh
HM: Spalding
Regarding St Chris out of Richmond, no, they aren't good. "Good for the state of Richmond, but they lost to Episcopal, which is embarrassing. St Chris would lose to Spalding by 7+ goals and likely lose to St. Paul's by 3 - 4 goals. The only people on here who think St Chris is any good are likely EHS or Prep boosters trying to justify it was a "good win". Likely Prep boosters, as EHS has never been known to be much of a lacrosse school.
The MIAA, while a very deep conference filled with tons of parity this spring, appears to be down at the national level.
I based my St. Chris opinion based on my memory of its record prior to EHS. St. Chris has been an abject disaster in its last 2 games, and I badly overrated them. The truth came out, and I was wrong.
Far from an EHS booster because I think they suck too, albeit they suck less than St. Chris.

Big Week for PVI. Will they be able to beat both GZ and SJC in the same week?

What happened to SSSA anyway? Or EHS for that matter? They just stopped resourcing the boys programs?
Combination of factors. Coach is in his second or third year and maybe he'll get 1-2 recruits thru admission per year, but who in their right mind would send their kid to either if you have other cheaper and better lacrosse options with relatively equal academics?? Also, if your DS was a solid player maybe not even a IL top 50 but wants to play at some level in college for a competitive program, while historically both SSSSA and EHS have gotten kids there as recently as last year, its a gamble that is just reckless. If you can afford $60 k per year, you're trying for Bullis, Prep, Gonzaaga or Landon over both SSSA and EHS. I just don't think either will ever be consider a competitive boys lacrosse programs again without a monster donor stepping in to make it happen. Sad.

Part of the philosophy is to focus almost 100% of boarding investments on Attack and Goalie. Even the top 2030 attack recruits will be at OM until Jr year - if they are lucky. The system works - just something to know if your kid plays attack.
It won’t work at Prep.
Prep parents will revolt when legacy kids won’t see the field.
Through the years I have seen scores of legacy boys at Prep “ride the pine” and it’s never been an issue.
You are making stuff up to support an agenda.
You’re probably new to the forum. There are multiple posts by GP parents saying that Hilgartner will have to pay attention to the parents of locals while attacking boarders virtually by name. GP parents hate boarders and transfers. Those posts even threatened donations so drop the BS.
Those posts do not exist from GP parents. That is absurd.
Must be a GP parent covering their own butt. It’s a well known fact that GP parents have a total disdain for boarders. The problem is that in every sport it’s the boarders that make them competitive.
Might be true that they don’t like boarders, but none of them are posting about it here.
