Yorktown doesn't produce more talent than other competitive publics. The only reason they are doing well is the one soccer commit who is a phenom athlete. The rest of the players are mid low d1 or d3.

There's a discussion on another thread about the 16 women who are on 6 of the NCAA Elite 8 teams and played at DMV private and public high school schools. In that group there are 12 players from private and 4 from public, including 3 from Langley, which was a good high school team when the players were there. This is, of course, a very small data set, but it is consistent with other analyses I have seen.

SJC will have U of Chicago Commit, York PA Commit, transfers that have been discussed, the two fundamentally sound sisters who started most season on attack and from what it sounds like a strong incoming freshman class- think they will be just fine.

If you’re serious about playing at the next level, I don’t think you can stay in public schools anymore. The competition in the private school leagues is multiple levels above what you see in the public school system.

SJC has two transfers with ACL injuries who never saw the field who will be major contributors next year - M&D Black club. Plus, the sister of the Harvard commit who went down mid season. with an ACL tear committed to U of Chicago. Get those girls healthy, plus a few other transfers that have been discussed and they may be ok. No doubt those 6 seniors are a major loss to the program. They carried the team on their backs. The coaching situation may still be a problem.

It will be interesting to see if schools start making transfers more a part of their plan. SJC is getting a Yorktown transfer next year and BI and SR got transfers last year. Takes some planning but it’s a good way to boost a year group.

For private schools it is a little like college. You can't always have large recruiting classes because there are only so many spots on the field. So a team filled with underclass starters (like GC) for this year may not have a large 2028 class but a team that is losing half of their starters (like SJC) or with many junior starters may need one.
