The west is split on why we fund Ukraine- half want to keep Ukraine free and the other half just like watching Russian people and stuff getting blown up.
It really is a 1+ 1 = 3 taxpayer investment.
Cannot wait for some more modern aircraft and better weapons to get to Ukraine and permitting them to use in Russia.
It seems Russia is content to slug it out with no urgency to end the conflict. Like NATO, it thinks its coming out ahead in the proxy war. NATO pumps Ukraine full of equipment that Ukrainians barely know how to use. Russia then gets to blow up/capture all that NATO equipment more easily than if they faced actual NATO troops.
Its a recipe for a long conflict.
No, they aren't. They already lost more in less than 2 years than they did in all 20 years of Afghanistan. This war is not sustainable for Russia. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

Just wait til you hear about Russia's Nazi Task Force Rusich (Nazis), Nazi DPR Somalia and Sparta Battalions, Varyag Battalion, Svarozich Battalian, Ratibor Battalion, or that Wagner PMC is named after Hitler's favorite composer and that its leadership like Dmitri Utkin are avowed Nazis.
It's not even funny that Russia sent actual Nazis to supposedly "de-Nazify" Ukraine.
Not PP you were replying to, but it seems to me, as a western European, that eastern Europe just has a number of toxic males who do the neo-Nazi/homophobe/xenophobe thing, more so than western Europe. We have them too in my country, but I feel not as many. There is really no difference in the percentage of Ukrainians and Russians who fall into that category... it's just that one country decided to invade the other, which is ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE.

It's truly bizarre for people to try and characterize Ukraine as "nazi" or needing "denazification" when Zelenskyy, Yermak and many other prominent leaders of Ukraine are in fact Jews. Jews voted into office by a wide public majority. Since when do nazis vote for Jews? Ukraine is second only to Israel in terms of Jewish leadership.
Russia, on the other hand, cannot even remotely say the same.

Saying the quiet part out loud.
That they make slick videos akin to the videos ISIS made? Did you even read the article? I think you did not.
Meanwhile it was Russians who beheaded a captured Ukrainian soldier, and filmed it. That’s even more like ISIS.
The article has been modified. Original headline was: "What Ukraine Learned from ISIS." Looks like an editor/censor got to it.
As for snuff videos, there is one by "Russians" and there are dozens if not hundreds of them by Ukrainians out there. The one "Russian" one sparked a national debate, while the Ukrainian ones are met with raucous applause.

The group of far-right and ex-military figures are said to have prepared for a "Day X" to storm the Reichstag parliament building and seize power.
A man named as Heinrich XIII, from an old aristocratic family, is alleged to have been central to their plans.
According to federal prosecutors, he is one of two alleged ringleaders among those arrested across 11 German states.
French police under fire for allowing neo-Nazi rally in Paris on VE Day
The Paris police force and France's interior minister faced questions and criticism Monday over why a march of around 600 neo-Nazis through the streets of the capital was authorised at the weekend.
On Saturday, September 18, around 200 neo-nazis took to the streets of the historically-gay neighbourhood of Chueca in Madrid to harass gay people living there. Supposedly organized to protest the recently released plans for sustainable development in Spain, the 2030/2050 Agendas, the “protest” quickly devolved into homophobic and racist attacks, antagonizing the people who lived in the neighbourhood, and resulted in the arrest of one protestor who supposedly attacked another protestor during the march. The openness of the fascist rhetoric being displayed has been consistent with a rise in right wing extremism and homophobia in Spain, a country that, up until 2019, was regarded as being completely anti-fascist in nature.
