See earlier post. Boys don’t leave for McLean. They go to Arlington, BRYC, Bethesda as they age up.
OK....How many 07 or 06 boys who played for Vienna at U9-U11 and now play for Arlington or Bethesda top teams? Thanks

I know former 06/07 players who went to BRYC (formerly on a Vienna Silver team!) and Bethesda South, but with Bethesda South no longer operating and a pandemic occurring, I can't say where they all wound up.
Of course, I've also seen a VYS House player dominate a Marshall-Madison JV game, so it's hard to generalize.

Really? Celebrating Arlington ECNL's wins over Vienna's VPL teams!?
I’m guessing that was tongue in cheek. ARL parent here and no one was celebrating. In fact, what moron would celebrate a win in a friendly? Well, maybe Pipeline or Bethesda. These scrimmages were a chance for VYS to play against a higher level of competition. I give Vienna credit for getting out of its comfort zone. If anyone wants an accurate assessment of the games for 07 and 06, just ask.
Arlington 08s should have played Vienna 07s, 07s vs 06s, 06s vs 05s. Who got anything out of these games? Complete waste of time for both sides.

Yes, please provide an accurate assessment of these two games, please.

Anonymous wrote:Vienna it is a community club! Better players will always leave at some point, especially to Mclean. Plus there are better players, coaches and directors in the clubs around VYS. So it is a win-win for VYS players to leave. VYS need to focus on the community and not trying to be a club that never will be.

Vienna is trying to play top area teams. Once they reach the U13 age the NPL/ECNL Regional is mostly made-up of clubs second teams so the competition is not there. I think it's great that they are reaching out to get good competition for their teams. Although having a DD at Arlington it's hard to go from winning league games 12-0 to losing friendlies 4-0 against ECNL teams. Wish there were more 2-1 games out there for us. I will say they are also taking teams to more competitive tournaments as well to search out some better competition. I know Vienna won't ever be placed in one of the top brackets but I've noticed teams are slowly moving to higher ones as the teams improve.
