I was adding items to my shopping list on the Wegmans app and when I added bananas, I got this automatic message:
"Our bananas are imported from Colombia, Honduras, and Costa Rica, which are impacted by a 10% tariff. We are working with our suppliers to minimize the impact to our customers and are committed to keeping our prices competitive on affected products." I noticed when I went shopping today that there were little signs next to the various types of produce with the name of the country the item came from.
Good on you, Wegmans! By letting people know where our food comes from and how tariffs are affecting prices, customers will be better educated about the true impact of the tariffs on their groceries.
