You are free to avoid stores where you don't like their dog policy, the same way I ensure my dog avoids stores that have no-dog policies.
You are not in charge of what people do, just because you don't like it. Talk about being a snowflake.
Mic drop.
You have to wonder what's wrong with someone who can't go anywhere without a dog, and who does this sort of research.
Our family dog is crazy happy at home, in our yard, and hanging out with the dog next door. Sometimes he kills rabbits. Because he is a dog. He doesn't need to go to Lowes or cheap discount stores like Homegoods or TJ Maxx to look at crap that can't sell elsewhere.
We love him. He has a great dog's life and we don't expect him to be our boyfriend/husband/companion, etc. He's our family dog. We have each other. I think that lonely people are obsessed with their dogs.

Yep. As prior PPs noted, many dogs have become emotional substitutes for people who can't find a spouse or afford real kids. That's why they feel so compelled to take a dog everywhere you'd bring a loved one. I feel bad for them.

I notice there is a constant cruel/malicious/spiteful tone in posts about dog owners on DCUM. Often unwarranted.
It’s not just in this thread; it’s in many dog threads. Also, I notice this same tone in threads about single people/posters (often with these same words and phrases).
I can’t help but wonder if this over-the-top acerbic reaction is a way of justifying one’s own lifestyle. For the life of me, I’ll never understand why someone would tell someone that no one likes them and they are pathetic because they find companionship in a dog.
Ladies (I doubt there are men doing this), people who make life choices that are different from yours shouldn’t threaten you. Really, there is no need to disparage others because they are childless, single, possibly lonely, ….or other things you deem to be lesser than. Remember, you might find yourself this way one day.
Plus, you might just be wrong.

Wow, I'm a new poster. Where the hell do you live that you need to drive 30 miles for anything?
Do you have a spouse and kids? So curious.

Wrong, nobody is anti-dog. That's just a facile attempt to distract from the real issue, which is that more and more dog owners are breaking the rules left and right.
Many dog owners are getting increasingly selfish and rude, pure and simple. No consideration for other people anymore.

I am reading all these childish comments, and seeing the name-calling, by people who don't like dogs in stores. And honestly, the nastiness just makes me want to take them more. So keep it up. As to your judgment, name-calling, etc. I can live with that. Even more, because I have dogs, I can HAPPILY live with that and not care at all.
Have at it.
Uhhhh you’re not allowed to take your dog to the grocery store. Idiot.
OK, well, if the store manager asks us to leave, we will. Stew more in the meantime.![]()

Maybe you shouldn't also be so culturally insensitive. Many cultures consider dogs to be very dirty. If this area is so progressive, then why are many intolerant of other cultures by brining their dogs into restaurants/stores.
I like animals, don't get me wrong. Keep damn fluffy outside.
YES! So progressive. I think we should also embrace the idea eating of dogs. We can clean out the shelters and feed the homeless people. It would be culturally insensitive not to eat them according to some cultures in Asia like parts of China and North Korea.
Not sure who you are trying to shock here. The people who don’t want dogs all over the place are likely 100% okay with feeding excess dogs to hungry people. I love dogs, but I love pigs (who are way more intelligent) and enjoy bacon.
I wonder if we should eat undesirable people next. Jonathan swift was so right

What’s wrong with it is that not everyone wants to be around dogs. I’m allergic and while I steer clear of them in stores it’s obnoxious that the dog is there. It’s a store/market/restaurant it’s perfectly reasonable to expect that an animal NOT be there.
I shouldn't have to keep my dog home because your immune system overreacts!
It's not everyone else's fault that you're cognitively like a toddler.
You wouldn’t last a day in the wild without your Flonase. I cannot help you. I don’t hear you raging about trees and flowers!
I don't have allergies to dogs. Additionally, I'm a grown adult who can function leaving my house without a wubbie.
Hey there little doggy mom, I’m not a boomer and likely younger than you, and you and your disgusting puppy doggy mutt are indeed acting like a toddler.
I think we’d all like to step aside and step around, but have you and your disgusting animal in our way. Time to grow up, doggy mommy, no one likes you.
