They didn’t know how to answer some of the questions. For example, when asked something like, “How often were you able to disagree with another person without it becoming a major argument”, they didn’t know if they should answer “Never” or “Always”. As an adult I know what the question is asking, but to the students, if they never get into an argument their answer is “Never”.

Aaaand this information goes into the hands of a politically partisan private company connected to one of the worst social media companies out there, facebook, to be held for eternity under your kids first and last name and school, with no FOIA oversight or accountability, and under the FERPA protections which are supposed to only be allowed for specific people within your local school system.

This contract is a tremendous violation of student privacy and rights.

The students are too young to consent to this data mining of their intimate personal opinions, and have no way to retract or purge this information. They have no recourse against this company.

This is wrong.

Nothing will get in the way of their human engineering experiments on their little proxies.

Did you read the survey? Do you really think this survey will somehow help anyone with mental health issues? It’s a stupid survey (same as all FCPS surveys) and isn’t useful at all. It checks some box that says FCPS cares.

How about parents take their children to actual doctors for regular exams and have them do their assessment? Oh yeah, we already do.

How much did FCPS pay for this survey to be developed and administered? And what are they planning on doing with the data? How about they spend that time and energy actually educating children?

Fcps paid somewhere around just below 2 million dollars for this sham of a survey.

Opting put of the SEL Screener is just for the screener. You can opt your children out of counseling services and for High Schools the Signs of Suicide Screening. These are all mandates from Gatehouse and not the schools.

This transfer of private student information occurred prior to FCPS announcing the contract publicly.

FCPS gave this outside contractor the first and last names, school, grade and student ID number of all students.

If you opted out, FCPS still gave away this private information of your minor children without informing you or asking permission.

You have probably given out more than this much information out on your Facebook page, Karen.

If you don't see the difference between a parent sharing information about their own child, vs a school system monetizing minor children's personal identifying information to a private company with political leanings, without parent notification, consent or permission, with no ability to opt out of having their kid's personal information shared, then you should not be allowed to work anywhere around children.

I....don't work anywhere around children.

With all the lawyers employed by Gatehouse, you would think they would learn...

FCPS granted this private company Panorama FERPA access that is only supposed to be available to the school system, with no parent permission or waivers.

Panorama is also exempt from FOIA oversight, so there is no way for parents to access what the company is doing with their minor children's information.

One can safely assume this is an deliberate attempt for FCPS to circumnavigate legal protections for students, in violation of Virginia code.
