Totally. Just look at the DC data on breakthroughs. If everyone was vaccinated we'd be at the same rates we had all summer, if not lower.

Actually, the people in DC I know personally who have chosen not to get vaccinated are independent or liberal. I’m sure I’m in the minority here and I acknowledge there are more republicans refusing the shot - but it’s not as simple as left v right. In fact, a couple of the people I know who aren’t yet vaccinated have phd’s and big job titles. So your assertion is that African Americans will

a. believe a random person's assertion that white people want black people to not get the injection under emergency authorization with as yet unknown longterm side effects that officials have admitted does not prevent the receivers from getting or spreading the virus because white people want black people to die

b. can be easily persauaded into major health decisions, possibly a life and death health decision out of spite and not from their own best thinking, available research and observations (including the CDC's statements)

I'm not vaccinated. 50 yo white female Democrat. I have medical issues, including severe allergies and an as yet undiagnosed auto immune condition, with risk of blood clots. I am doing the right thing for me, which is holding off on vaccination until I have a handle on my health.

None of those things prevent you from getting an mRNA shot. Your doctor has told you this. You will not really get a better handle of your health, but these things will impact your recovery if you get COVID.

I am ok with small exceptions to office mandates, including those with autoimmune issues who may not be able to vaccinate. They are the ones we protect with herd immunity.

I would not be surprised to see most offices back off strict mandates for these reasons. I think testing is acceptable in these cases.

I am in similar shoes and also had Covid. I was adamant about getting an antibody test to confirm my positive PCR was a true positive. I aslo wanted to use this instead of vaccination card like you can in other countries. I can still use it for travel overseas, but in the bizarre world of US politics I would lose my job if my employer jumps onto the bandwagon of moral superiority to require all remote workers to vaccinate. I am appalled at what is allowed to happen in the USA.


Stop whining. The odds of the vaccine harming you are slim to none while you will immensely benefit from it.

They are a bit less than the odds of COVID actually harming you.

I am all for vaccines but I think we need to recognize that not everyone "immensely" benefits from the vaccine. If we don't recognize that absolute truth it's going to be harder to find ways to get more people vaccinated to help protect those who do benefit.
