Subject: Classrooms for kids <12 will close for 10 days w/ any positives; will there be virtual instruction?

We'll, it's not what started no school on Wednesday, but once there was the start of IPL in the spring, it's one of the reasons it had to stay. Teachers still need planning time, and if you have them spend lunch hour with the kids in the room, then you need to make up the time elsewhere - hence Wednesdays.
Actually no. The reason for Wednesday’s was no in-person specials.

of course it requires criticism- cutting out 20% of classroom instruction is kind if a big deal, no matter the supposed reason.

the stated reason was “deep cleaning” and to allow for the schedule to accommodate hybrid. it just got entrenched once the baseline shifted to “we can take away as much instructional time as we want and change conditions however we want.”
