What makes the most sense is that unvax'd kids don't need to mask IF community transmission is below XX. If community transmission is high, then either the adults/older kids didn't bother getting vax'd, or the vaccine isn't working on a variant. But, I'm pretty hsppy to live in a county where most people are getting vax'd....and that should allow greater freedom for younger kids re: masks.
Vaccinated teachers should definitely not be required to wear them. WTH!!!
What are you getting worked up about? I never said vax'd teachers should wear masks....trying reading what was written.
They are for summer school. And nothing has been said about dropping it for fall.
We don’t have to wear them when outdoors, so I can see the indoor requirement dropping by the end of summer.

One set in the fall to assess where kids are.
Another set in the spring to see what progress kids have made.
Ugh. More standardized testing is bad. They need to get rid of SOLs altogether.
How do you propose we hold FCPS accountable for learning loss/"unfinished learning" without a fall test? I'm not trying to be snarky - if there's an alternative that works that isn't testing, great! But at some point, given FCPS's lack of a plan to use ESSR money for real learning, I would like accountability. They have an awful lot of millions sloshing around that are supposed to be used for catching kids up.
The bigger question is why was there no consideration for loss of learning that happened in spring of 2020. That full stop in March of 2020 had a huge impact on my high schooler’s education and course trajectory. He’s a rising senior now. Too late.

Two SOLs? What does that mean?
It means the fallout from parents screaming their kids weren’t learning is even more money will be shoveled to testing companies to test your kids even MORE than they already were.
Or it means VDOE is actually holding district’s accountable for unfinished learning. Virginia is near the bottom of the country in terms of face-to-face hours kids got in classrooms. I am happy VDOE wants to check the effect of that.
Also maybe FCPS should not have actively encouraged families to opt out of SOLs this year. Then maybe they would have had the data they wanted already.

Would someone be able to share what was actually said about half-day Mondays? Is there a time line for when these calendar changes will be decided? Would be helpful for those of us with, ya know, jobs . . .
FCPS hates working parents. They think this is 1950 and every family has a SAHM so it’s ok to give random days off.
I believe Melanie Meren said they could just use SACC.
Because the SACC situation isn't totally up in the air, SACC waitlists aren't years long, and SACC is completely covered by tax dollars like school is...
Oh, wait.
I'm pretty sure SACC can't take a couple hundred kids for half a day.
