Who would say “yes” to registering and paying without knowing if your kid is on the A team or the B team? Screw that, that’s crazy.

Tryouts start next month and continue into August and September. Both programs will make the cuts between A and B teams after everybody has registered and paid. Both teams are actively recruiting each other’s players, and recruiting from other teams like NextLevel, Top Caliber, and VLC, and recruiting their own players to stay. They won’t name their A teams until all that dust has settled in the fall. Some families who feel entitled to the A team will be shocked by their placement and try to sign into one of the other teams. Then there will be another round of movement in the new year after players have learned their fall playing time. So, if you want to know which team the OP son is on, the answer is that he doesn’t know.

Not ML parent but what does it cost to be on the team, with the various travel and trip to Vail? For 1 season and the various extras are families paying in the $10-12k range?

Who cares?? The team had just got back from Vail and so a local tourney was great. It was great to sleep at home. Yes, the competition stunk. Wish it was better. But, we have plenty of tough one’s coming and WSYL, so no big deal.

NXT Meltdown has a good mix of teams and competition. ML should be looking out for what is best for their players not is what is best for the owner’s bank account.

What is weak is the whining about one tournament. Are you a ML parent? If yes, you know who to ask about scheduling. If not a ML parent, what tournament did your kid play in?

There are not that many summer weekends that teams play tournaments - maybe 4-5. It is a complete waste of time to have ML capital play B and C level teams. Not even the B and C level teams want to play ML. Balancing out “travel” is a weak argument - your whole weekend is essential at the tournament anyway.
It would be embarrassing for ML not show up at their own tournament.

In previous years you would see HOCO elite and HOCO AAA at this tournament - no longer. Maybe too many competing tournaments this year and this fell down the priority list?
