Better Call Saul was far better, in my opinion. Up until the last five minutes of the series anyway.

I'm a woman and I enjoy them both too, but they really are not as great as many series and films covering similar themes.

It doesn't take a genius to enjoy The Wire, but the complaints I've seen most is that it's too slow, too complicated, and too hard to understand without subtitles, which they don't want to use. A lot of people don't want their entertainment to require any effort, and that's fine.

+100. This is exactly how I felt/feel about BB and also BCS. Oh, and I’m a woman. Seems weird to have to announce that, but also weird that some posters insist only men like these shows. BB is my 80 year old mom’s favorite show.

Thank goodness for the admired friends who raved to me about Breaking Bad so much that I tried it three times before finally getting into it.

When I finally got into it, it was one of the most rewarding shows I've ever watched. As a student of literature I very much admired the quality of writing, which was much more than about the overarching plotlines or the plot of any one episode - it was a fascinating character study of the downfall of one man and how that downfall impacted so many lives around him. The acting was very strong on all counts, but impeccable from Bryan Cranston.

Better Call Saul is an equally excellent show with equally excellent acting and writing.

Yes, this. Took me a while to get engaged and then I got hooked by end of Season 1.

I never got into Better Call Saul. It just didn't do it for me. Can't really explain why.


I was hooked on BBad from the first episode, and I couldn't get into BCS until a few episodes. It grew on me and I liked it, but not as much as BBAd.
I attribute it to Bryan Cranston being a more relatable character than Bob Odenkirk.

The wonder of BB is that you have an average family and an average guy who makes a series of small choices that eventually combine to create a disaster. It shows how a regular person can be consumed and destroyed by these things. There are so many times in our lives that we make a small choice that leads to a bigger choice and unintended consequences. Frankly that Your Honor show is really just another version of Breaking Bad.

Same! I’m a woman, and I was hooked at episode 1. Fascinating series, IMO. (My unpopular opinion is that it should’ve ended after season 4.)

The last season just feels like an add-on season (which it actually was).
