OP here. Thank you for asking. Lots has happened in the last week or two since I last wrote in this thread.
Mom came to stay with us about 10 days or 2 weeks ago. She was very weak, was not speaking/walking/swallowing food, etc. Finally about 5 days later (1 week ago) we called 911 because she seemed worse again. The EMT rushed her to the hospital because her blood pressure was very low, she was in Afib and had difficulties breathing. She was intimated and subsequently brought to another hospital to the cardiology ICU. She has been there since and her situation has not improved much because they can’t understand what’s wrong with her. I have been talking to the doctors everyday to help with the language barrier.
Nanny’s dad who is now also living in our house, was able to spend time with his wife at the hospital yesterday.
For all the critics that called me a slave owners, you are ugly and bad people. I have bent over backward for my nanny and her family... and it has been a lot. Now I have her dad here who apparently can visit his wife and then stay here with my unvaccinated kids. I doubt 99% of DCUM would do that for their nanny... I don’t wish this on anyone.
BTW, nanny was not working while her mom was here.
Why can't the dad go back to where they were living before? I thought the whole idea was that the mom couldn't go to the nursing home they worked at in her poor condition. Did he have to quit the job, and subsequently lose housing? What is the long term plan, everyone is going to live in your basement indefinitely?
Of course the nanny wasn't working while her mom was there- it was always rather delusional of you to think she could care both for her mom and your kids at the same time (and her baby).

You basically sponsored this family in order to have this extraordinary woman be your nanny. 99% of us MBs would have just hired someone already legal to work in this country. It would be nice if you could also help with the mother’s substantial medical bills after she recovers since it is unlikely her family can pay them.

Anonymous wrote:OP STILL hasn't answered how her husband's employer was able to procure a visa to bring the nanny to the US.
My guess is that OP and her husband are long-term diplomats. There have been several diplomats that have gotten in trouble for bringing their nannies to the US and paying them barely anything.
