The “negotiations” sound like extortion.
An shame on PPs who keep using the politics of the owners as any kind of factor in this - that should be totally irrelevant.

The farm tried to negotiate and the Ferry refused.
They tried to buy the business from them. That's extortion. Sell to us or we shut you down.
False. They also offered to lease the land to them. White’s refused. Whites wants all the money for themselves. They didn’t even respond to various forms in contact from Rockland’s lawyers. Whites knew all along this was the path it would take.
Is it really that much money? I didn’t get the impression that the ferry was killing it.

Hi Libby! Good try. Go back in your hole.

Lol. A campsite for the homeless, the addicted, illegals criminals avoiding ICE, juvenile detention with access to unlimited boating and rec equipment.
The ferry can stop 1 inch short of the Rockland property for a on the half hour “visit Dixie” excursion program for the addicted/criminal half way/destitute / undocumented and those with incurable infectious diseases.

Was looking at rockland for a wedding venue and will absolutely not consider it now.
Greedy.
What is greedy is the ferry using someone's property and not paying rent.
What is greedy is using a technicality to void an agreement and then trying to charge $200,000 per year rental for a piece of land that is basically otherwise worthless.
Well they won’t get their $200k year plus pretty much everyone now hates them. This has not ended well.
Oh well, Whites was paying them nothing before. Why should Whites get to use it for free? That’s absurd.
Well, it wasn't free. There was an agreement in 1952 that set a token amount- $5. And this was done simply to resolve any question over the matter. Even before that it was clearly the intent of the 1871 order to condemn the land to establish a landing for the ferry at that location.

They rent out the former slaves’ quarters on VRBO

The 2nd link doesn’t work.
Yes, it does.
Works for me, and pretty gross to post slave quarters as a country getaway spot. Oh walking distance to wineries! Yay.

People pay $200 a night for that? Its really badly decorated.
Agree. It looks like a really crappy old hotel.
