As a parent step up and give them the education they need and social skills and work on their mental health. You are putting your parenting responsibilities on the school as you want it for free child care. That is the real issue. Do you understand how bad this virus is? Its not like the common flu and people have proven they cannot self regular or think of the greater good so this has to be this way. I would not send my children to school now.

The amount of privilege on these boards is staggering. Over 99k people in Moco have filed for unemployment since March. But a lot of people in Moco - many immigrants - were not officially employed or on records - so the number is so much higher. So many at risk kids have had no school. Their home environment may not be great. The stress of this may have made it worse. Moco in early May stopped camps and summer programming - for the summer. Yesterday the WHO said asymptomatic spread is nonexistent. Schools around the world are opening without issues We now can treat the virus better so hospitalizations don’t equate to death. Moco has some of the best - current COVID stats in the county. (Much was due to nursing home outbreaks of 64 % death in total and most do the deaths in recent weeks still impact of those outbreaks)

But if you can telecommute - or don’t have to work - can have your groceries delivered, your food picked up and for many in Moco go to a safe beach home, you don’t want things opened for a risk. Many of these at risk kids and parents. have and will face: things much worse than the virus. And at a far greater percentage than anyone truly impacted by the virus. The repercussions of these months , this summer and fall if things don’t really open - can have impacts for years on their lives. But keep things locked up for you to feel 100 percent safe. If you want to keep your kids home - or homeschool that is fine. But maybe for some, home isn’t that safe or the best alternative

You must not have a fulltime job.
Do you actually contribute DIRECTLY to any economic productivity, GDP or income tax revenue (Ie, have a paying fulltime job), or just stay home with the kids (now, 30 years ago, or in another life)?

The virus is so big and scary that millions of people have been in large group protests daily, for the past 10 days.

Wake up PP. Unless you’re in a nursing home, are elderly or have a couple illnesses you are very unlikely to be hospitalized. Or a carrier if asymptomatic.

He probably can override Elrich. Question is whether he wants to pull that trigger.


He certainly could. Hogan ended up basically delegating some of his emergency powers to local leaders. He could always just pull that back and then Elrich would have more limited authorities.

But, I don't see why Hogan would do that. The people that want to stay holed up may be placated by Hogan's order. And the people that don't are almost certainly going to direct the majority of their ire at Elrich, not Hogan. If public backlash grows, maybe it could even help flip a seat or two in the legislature.
